GAIL KLEVEN GELB (gkg@gelbgelb.com), a partner and co-founder of Gelb & Gelb LLP, is a member of the bars of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.

She graduated from Brandeis University (B.A. 1969), Boston University (M.A. Urban Affairs 1980) and Suffolk University Law School (J.D. 1983).

AREAS OF PRACTICE

Ms. Gelb represents clients in federal and state court litigation and arbitration.  She concentrates in the areas of probate and family law, employment, and closely held corporation, family business and partnership disputes.

EXPERIENCE

Ms. Gelb has been practicing law for over 20 years. She is experienced in complex jury and bench trials in Superior Court and Probate Court. She has also been the managing partner of Gelb & Gelb LLP since its founding in 1987, and brings a business person's perspective to her cases.

RECOGNITION

Ms. Gelb's accomplishments are recognized by her inclusion in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory where she received the highest rating ("AV") and The Best of the U.S.'s list of the Best Services Professionals in the United States under Family Law.

SPEAKING AND PUBLICATIONS

Ms. Gelb is also a frequent author and lecturer (see Publications and Seminars). She is an author of Massachusetts Superior Court Manual and Ethical Lawyering in Massachusetts which are published by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc., and is an Associate Editor of the Massachusetts Law Review.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS

Ms. Gelb's professional activities involve ethical issues. She has served as a Hearing Committee member of the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers, and is a member of the Boston Inn of Court which is affiliated with the American Inns of Court (a legal organization that promotes professionalism, competence, civility and ethics).

She is a life Member of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, a member of the American Bar Association (Litigation, Family Law and Labor and Employment Sections and Trial Practice Committee), the Massachusetts Bar Association (Civil Litigation, Family Law and Labor and Employment Sections), the Boston Bar Association (Civil Litigation, Family Law and Labor and Employment Sections and Business Litigation Committee), and the Women's Bar Association. Ms. Gelb is also a member of the Boston Club for Senior Executive and Professional Women, the Family Firm Institute, the Northeastern University Center for Family Business and the Walnut Hill School Board of Visitors.

Ms. Gelb has served as a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association Family Law Section Council, the Massachusetts Bar Association Family Law Section Committee to Improve the Probate and Family Court, and the Massachusetts Bar Association Child Support Guidelines Committee. She served as Vice-Chairperson for the Public Relations and Speakers Committee of the Family Law Section Council of the Massachusetts Bar Association. Ms. Gelb was a member of the Financial Decision Subcommittee of the Governor's Special Commission on Divorce.
